HANNIBAL, Mo. – The George H. Riedel Foundation recently approved a $25,000 matching grant for Hannibal-LaGrange University’s Scarlet and Blue auction.
Ray Carty, vice president for institutional advancement at HLGU, said the school is facing a financial challenge. The award expresses a vote of confidence in the university and its economic impact on Hannibal.
Riedel administrator Bill Craigmiles said the matching grant encourages the university to raise funds and people to donate. After that, the Riedel Foundation will provide up to $25,000 in matching funds.
The Riedel Foundation has awarded nearly $150,000 in financial support to Hannibal-LaGrange since its inception in 2000. These awards have helped establish computer and music camps for Hannibal’s children, provided equipment for the science and scholarship building for the university. He has also contributed financially to the fine arts theater and its productions, medical training for the nursing program, and mentorship for at-risk children.
