Rivers PDP refutes ‘no confidence’ vote on Orbih

The Rivers State branch of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed insinuations in some quarters that it had voted a vote of ‘confidence’ against the party’s National Vice President for the South-South Zone, Chief Dan Orbih.
In a statement signed by the Special Assistant (New Media) to the Rivers State PDP Chairman, Barrister Ojukwu Stephen, yesterday in Port Harcourt, the PDP said that the fake news spread on social media and some online posts were the work of mischief-makers.
The party has therefore urged the people of Rivers and other residents of the state to steer clear of fake news as no such decision has been made by the PDP, pointing out that the leadership and all members of the party in the state still had an implicit trust in Orbih. party leadership in the area.
The statement read in full: “The attention of the leadership of the People’s Democratic Party in Rivers State has been drawn to certain unfortunate and despicable publications which are circulating and are particularly sponsored by troublemakers and persons who have long decided to sow confusion and anarchy in their stock – commerce concerning the progress, unity and development of the People’s Democratic Party in Rivers State ;and, by extension, the South-South.
“Ordinarily, the schemes of these scam artists, fraudulent entities and attention seekers are well beyond response. However, given the alleged depiction that the ‘vote of no confidence’ is sponsored by the PDP in Rivers State , under the guise of “PDP Youth Council, Rivers State, and the somewhat negative impact it may have on the undisputed unity and progress of our great party, the PDP.
“It is important to state that the rumored lie that a vote of no confidence was passed against PDP South-South Vice President Chief Dan Orbih lacks every iota of truth and is misguided to create the disunity and confusion in the party, especially as the party prepares for the 2023 general election.
“Having uncovered the falsehood and evil intentions behind said post, we unequivocally and unreservedly state that the post does not represent the true state of affairs in the South-South PDP, or the strong PDP family in Rivers State under the leadership of Governor Nyesom Wike.
“It is important to emphasize that the propagators of this lie are faceless and politically abysmal, as no such group is registered in the state, or as a party support group in the state; and therefore cannot make political statements for the party.
“It should be noted that the Youth Leader of the Happy, Strong and United PDP Family of Rivers State is Hon. Ikpechi Prince Oriji, not Marshal Onuah looking for political relevance; a known impersonator in Rivers State.
“It should also be noted that the youth leader of the party in the state, has neither authorized nor sanctioned the cartooning of a publication made in the name of the youth or the party; and all of these actions are done in exercise of individual human rights, which the PDP family in Rivers State recognizes and respects as the right of citizens.
“While we don’t ‘keep a record’ for the accomplished and astute leader Dan Orbih, our internal investigation reveals that the post (along with its fake and unauthorized content) targets the revered political juggernaut simply because of his love for the , justice and fair play, and in particular his admiration for the Governor of Rivers and Nyerisi State of the Niger Delta, Chief Nyesom Wike.
“The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its youth, in Rivers State, hereby disassociates itself from the politically empty and self-serving publication of Marshal Onuah and his cronies,” the statement added.
Likewise, the Rivers East wing of the PDP youth reaffirmed their loyalty and support to the leadership of the party’s state youth leader, Hon. Prince Ikpechi Oriji.
In a statement signed by Deputy Chief of Youth 1, PDP, Rivers State, Alfred Nwafor, in Port Harcourt yesterday, the youths said they remained confident in the quality leadership provided by Chief Dan Orbih.
The statement reads in full: “Our attention has been drawn to a statement doing the rounds on social media by an unknown individual, a certain Onuah Marshall against a man of integrity, a senior leader of the PDP in the South-South, Vice -national president of the PDP. Chairman, South-South, Chief Dan Orhih.
“We wouldn’t have paid attention to such an empty storyline, but to set the record straight so that the reading public is not misled, we are making this statement in support of the previous statement made by our Youth Leader of the State, Honorable Prince Ikpechi Oriji We therefore declare the following in support of our State Youth Leader: that we the PDP Youth Leaders (LGA and Wards) and the The entire Rivers East Senate District PDP Youth strongly support our State Youth Leader, Hon Prince Ikpechi Oriji on the rebuttal statement earlier released from his office.
“That the said Onuah Marshall is an impostor, and as such, all allegations raised by him against the PDP National Vice President, South-South Zone, Chief Dan Orbih are baseless, false and groundless.
“That the said PDP Youth Council that Onuah Marshall parades does not exist with regard to the youth wing of the PDP Rivers State. Indeed, each organization or youth group of the recognized Party is registered with the office of the Head of Youth of the State. We therefore reaffirm that the said PDP Youth Council is faceless and does not exist as a youth body/group in PDP Rivers State.
“That in my name, Deputy Youth Leader 1 (Youth Leader, Rivers East Senate District), the eight LGA Youth Leaders and 116 Neighborhood Youth Leaders in our Senate District support our Youth Leader of the state of capacity, the Hon. Prince Ikpechi Oriji for passing a vote of confidence in our leader and father, Chief Dan Orbih, National Vice President of the South-South Zone of the PDP for his support for the growth of our dear party, his exemplary leadership style and his qualities to ensure that our democracy is advanced in our area and in Nigeria in general.
“Finally, we do not make boundaries, just as we agree with the aphorism that a golden fish has no hiding place, We also know that it is true that evil comes with rewards. We therefore advise said Onuah Marshall who has shown himself to be uncivilized, uneducated and dancing to the beat of his paymasters to immediately desist and unreservedly apologize to our leader or face the law,” the statement read.
The statement further explained that the PDP was a formidable party in the state and would not be distracted by critics using its name, while being paid off by enemies of the party.
“Our main objective is to galvanize support to ensure that the gubernatorial candidate, the new governor, Sir Siminialayi Fubara, and other candidates in the State, emerge successfully in their various positions by 2023.
“We warn these unemployed attention seekers to refrain from being willing tools in the hands of saboteurs bent on sabotaging this Rivers project.
“Let it be known for the avoidance of doubt that there is no existing group in the state known as the ‘PDP Youth Council’, this is just a figment of the imagination of individuals malicious with bad intentions towards the party in the state,” the party said.
