Türkiye FM says building trust between Russia and Ukraine is ongoing…

(MENAFN) According to the Turkish Foreign Minister, the procedures for building trust between Russia and Ukraine “are going well”.

“Confidence-building measures, such as the exchange of prisoners of war, also went well. We also mediated for this purpose”, as Mevlut Cavusoglu announced during a panel of the 17th Strategic Forum of Bled in Slovenia.

Pointing out that there have been “terrible wars in history in Europe, between Turks and some Europeans”, Cavusoglu said those times were over and “true friendship in Europe” had blossomed.

“So this war, today or tomorrow, sooner or later, will be over. We don’t know how long it will take,” he added, wondering if any lessons would be learned from the recent Russian-Ukrainian conflict. .

Moreover, asking how nations would get used to the new realities, Cavusoglu said a “negotiated solution” to the conflict was “much easier to achieve in the first weeks” of the war.
